Good To Know
There are many
trade schools in and
around the Dayton
area. Read below to
find them.
No GED?
No GED? No Job!

There are very few jobs for those without GED's. Those that are, are not
in the medium or high-income brackets. I am not going to kid you that
you can make 100s or 1000s of dollars more with a
GED or high school
diploma. Because that is a joke. But, you can work at more of a variety
of
jobs and use more of your skills. So, while you are waiting, or
working that "entry-level"
job, get your GED!

Consider a
job as a way to learn more and grow. If the job is “Dead
End”, unless this is all you can do, or if this is all God requires of you,
and you can live comfortably and give back to God and/or community,
then go for it. But, if washing dishes for the rest of your life is not for you
and you think there is more, then look over your
skill list.  On the right
hand side of the paper make a list of
jobs that come to your mind that
you would like to do for the rest of your life. Now, number the
jobs and
put the number of the
job next to the skills you have to do the job.

Now, if you are a Christian, pray over that
job that it is the one that God
is leading you to and that you will be happy in it for the rest of your life. If
you are not a Christian, think over this
job and see if you think you will
be happy in it for the rest of your life.

If the answer is yes, continue. If no, then check out the
job with the next
amount of numbers by the
skills. If everything is no, then maybe there
is something you would like to do that you did not list having any
skills
for. If this is your decision, then you will have to acquire
skills through
education, training, (sometimes on the job) or you did not list all of your
skills. Remember, I said to be honest with you.

Even if you have listed many
skills to achieve success in a given field, it
is possible that you need some further education or job training. With
this in mind, while you are waiting for that “Dream
job”, it might be good
to look for areas where you could brush up, take courses to give you
the edge, or look for
jobs with on-the-job training in your field.

I will not give any support to the integrity of any of the above information.
I am the first female graduate of IBC back when it was International
Broadcasting School. My suggestion to you is not to believe any of the
technical school hype as to getting or guaranteeing a job. They did get
me a job at a radio station that had nothing to do with broadcasting and
lasted only a month. However, through contact made at the station I
ended up being a station manager for two radio stations in the Dayton
area for several years.

Now, that you have looked over your skills, listed the jobs you would
like to have and have found the job you are most skilled for – let’s see if
there is something out there.
